Fused Glass Xmas Gifts - Make your own Jewellery, Coasters or Wall Hanging.

This introductory course to fused glass is intended to suit anyone with an interest in glass. No prior experience of working with glass is necessary as the course caters for all levels.

This Fusing Course covers the basic principles of glass working and in particular the processes involved in glass fusing, including compatibility testing; Kiln Preparation, Firing schedules, and discussion on contemporary makers work and the techniques used.

Project

Students will be given a choice of projects to work on to produce a final fused panel, glass coasters/decorations, and/or glass Jewellery pieces.  All work will be fired after the session and can be collected from the workshop the following weekend.

This Saturday workshop runs from 10.30am to 4pm. Tea, Coffee and juice are provided throughout the day, bring a packed lunch . Group sizes are limited to six students per session

Cast Glass - Open Casting & Lost Wax Casting Explored to make your own sculpture.

This introductory course to Casting Glass is intended to suit anyone with an interest in glass. No prior experience of working with glass casting is necessary although this course looks more closely at the technical/chemical qualities of glass.

 

This Casting Course covers the principles of Glass Casting. Looking at the chemical properties of glass, mould making for casting, how to pack moulds to achieve a variety of effects, cold finishing techniques and Kiln Firing Cycles.

Project

Students will work on an open back casting project to create their own glass sculpture.

 

The course involves three consecutive Saturday workshops running from 10.30am to 4pm. Model making and mould preparation, Cleaning and packing your mould and glass firing & finishing. Bring a packed lunch, tea ,coffee and juice are provided. Course group sizes are limited to a maximum of six students per session.
